Torres del Paine, Chile - Part 3

We were both really tired from the previous days' activities so we decided to spend the morning on a driving tour.  The tour took us to various parts of the park with no energy required.

There's a resort on this island (we'll show you photos of our accommodations later)

Nice view of the mountains

Baby guanacos

Sebastian, Carolina and us

Another nice waterfall

These three granite rocks are the Torres del Paine (Towers of Paine) and the park is named after them

This is as close as Blake got to a horse during our stay

We were more energetic in the afternoon.  Vanessa went on another horseback ride.

Happy rider

Blake went on a short hike to see the Torres del Paine closer up.

Rolling hills that look like southwest Alberta

Close look at the Torres del Paine

We stayed at the Explora Patagonia while we were in the Torres del Paine National Park.  The people at Explora and the accommodations are first class.

The guides are very knowledgeable and lots of fun

Our time in Torres del Paine was a highlight of our trip.  We left with very tired bodies but very energized minds which is just what we wanted.

There was some unfortunate news after our visit as a fire started near Grey Lake in late December and burned 13,000 hectares of the park.  The fire was brought under control in early January but significant damage has been done.  Our thoughts are with our friends at Explora and all the people in the area.
