Torres del Paine, Chile - Part 2

Torres del Paine has a number of glaciers and Grey Glacier is one of the most popular to visit.  The two of us visited the glacier on the same day but we took different routes.

Blake trekked to the glacier (12 kilometres or 7.5 miles) along with Sebastian, Mikhail and Konstantin.

More picturesque areas

Blake saw lots more after this but he doesn't have any photos as the battery in his camera died.  Luckily Vanessa was headed to the same place with a fully charged camera battery!

Vanessa, Carolina and Marina took the alternate route to the glacier - a short van ride followed by a relaxing boat trip.

The boat

Ice breaks off the glacier and the wind blows it across the lake

The glacier flows left and right around the rock in the middle

They use ice from the glacier to make drinks

The glacier has lots of different shades of blue

It also has some amazing shapes

Blake was done for the day and took a nap but Vanessa had energy for another horseback riding trip.  This ride was much harder (much better!) ride than yesterday.

Big sky country

Lots of rolling terrain

Steep descent

Even steeper descent

The destination - a very nice waterfall

Happy at the end of a very good ride

Still more trekking and horseback riding to come!
