Venice, Italy

We spent a day in Venice when we travelled through Europe in 1995.  It was a great visit but we missed two important things.  We didn't go inside Saint Mark's Basilica because Vanessa didn't pass the dress code - her shorts didn't cover her knees and she forgot to bring her long skirt.  The other thing we didn't do was a gondola ride through Venice's canals.  We did both this time.

Amazing ceilings

Enjoying the gondola ride - Vanessa's mom Cecile on the left and Shirley on the right

Here are a few other sights from Venice.

Venice's other famous (and very busy) attraction - Saint Mark's Square

The square floods at high tide so they put out platforms to walk on

In the square in front of the Basilica (no flooding today!)

Venice is also known for its blown glass

After Venice, the four of us hopped on to a cruise ship for a two week trip on the Mediterranean.
